José María Lona Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Uploaded with ImageShack.us The Snake Head model is part of Fender's "Tele®-bration" celebrating 60 years since the introduction of the iconic Telecaster with limited production of just 60 guitars worldwide. This Custom Shop creation replicates the very first Tele prototype that was produced in the summer of 1949. Legend has it that Leo Fender and his associates passed this instrument around to various guitar players in the local club scene who put it through its paces and gave feedback. By all accounts, it was a huge hit with the artists and before long there was a long waiting list to use it. Leo did some final tweaks and soon started full production on the soon-to-be-named Broadcaster model. The rest is guitar history. The Limited Snake Head Telecaster features resonant 100-year-old pine for the body, and a hard rock maple neck with the unique 3 on-a-side headstock shape. The substantial, yet comfortable non-truss rod neck allows unfettered vibrations to travel back through the neck and further drive the ultra lightweight body. Some call this "secondary tone" which really enhances the overall tonal character and response. Leo got the body shape perfect right from the start as this model has the classic Telecaster shape that helped change the music world. To top it off, the Snake Head has a custom wound Nocaster single-coil for a great rich sound with some serious bite. Don't miss your chance to own one of these rare collectibles that pays tribute to the grandfather of it all.
