This past weekend I received a 50's Tribute Gold Top which, according to the serial number, must have been built in the first few days after production resumed (23 July).

The instrument 'looks' decent, but the action is unbelievably high; the intonation is way off, and the TP and bridge are both a half inch off the body...leading me to believe that this instrument may have been 'stored' underwater during the flood. I can't believe Gibson would bother plekking a 'wet' guitar unless they are desperate for revenue and trying to push everything out the door. The overall build quality appears good, as does the finish, but I'll admit I'm disappointed in the Quality Control.

I'd be inclined to return it (to Sam Ash), but can't be sure I'd get another, and I believe the problems are addressable once I let the git cure (dry out) for a few weeks.

I'm actually wondering if my GT wasn't one of the ones pictured in the 'Premier Guitar' photos...floating. Until its set up properly, it's virtually unplayable. For everyone's sake, I hope it's just an anomaly.
