Los development son para compilar y para Mint deberia usar los paquetes de Ubuntu que es su distro madre o mejor aun de Debian testing que es de donde salen los paquetes para Ubuntu.. Tambien podes bajar una ISO y usarla desde un USB para probarla.. Si ya tenés instalado Jack fíjate que no está levantando el servicio, desde la configuración levanta el servicio y listo..
